Face Recognition Photo Sharing for Weddings and Events: How It Works
At an Indian wedding with 800 guests and 5,000 photos, the question is always the same: "Where are my photos?" Face recognition photo sharing answers it with a selfie. Here's how it works and how to run it at your next event.
How selfie-based photo search works
- 1
The photographer uploads event photos to a shared event gallery.
- 2
Each photo is indexed: the system detects the faces in it.
- 3
A guest opens the event link or scans the QR code and takes a selfie.
- 4
The system compares the selfie with faces in that event's photos and shows the matches.
In Snapflo, this is Live Photo Share. Guests use their phone's browser; there's nothing to install.
Running it at an event: a checklist
- Create the Live Photo Share before the event and print the QR code (table tents, entrance standee, stage screen).
- Ask the host to share the link in the family WhatsApp group.
- Upload in batches: after the ceremony, after dinner, and the full set later.
- Turn on your watermark if you want to protect previews.
- Decide whether guests can download, or only view.
Privacy: what guests and hosts ask
Is my selfie shared?
The selfie is only used to find matches within that event.
Can it be turned off?
Yes. The studio can switch face match off for any share.
Who can see the photos?
Anyone with the link; studios can stop the share when the event is over.
Why it wins bookings
Guests remember the studio that got them their photos during the reception. Each gallery carries your logo, so it works as marketing at every event. It's also a strong upsell in your wedding packages.
